Programs of Study
The Department of Economics and Finance offers three (3) undergraduate degree programs: (1) business administration, (2) economics, and (3) finance.

BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
(Printable Business Administration Brochure)
The Business Administration curriculum provides a broad-based business background for those interested in a business career but who do not wish to specialize in a specific functional area. This program also allows great flexibility in designing a program of study to meet specific career objectives. Students can develop a concentration in an area of business in which a major is not currently available or can distribute their electives across all areas of business. A bachelor of science in Business Administration is appropriate for entry-level positions in a broad range of businesses, both large and small, and provides an excellent background for students planning certain advanced degrees.

BUSINESS ECONOMICS (Printable Economics Brochure)
Business economists are at work in countless areas of industry and government. The role of the business economist varies with the size of the organization. Large banks, corporations, and government agencies normally have a large separate economics department staffed with several economists. Smaller businesses have one/two economists who provide expertise. Business not large enough to employ a full-time economist often employ economic consultants.

Business economists perform a variety of tasks for governmental agencies and private organizations (such as statistical and general research, pricing and marketing, financial analysis, forecasting business conditions, and economic regulation).

The Bachelor of Science in Business Economics at Louisiana Tech consists of 126 semester hours. These courses involve an intensive study of economics and business-related subjects, as well as a broad background in liberal education and science. In order to function effectively, the business economist must have both a knowledge of theory and an understanding of economic and business facts and institutions. A bachelor's degree in Business Economics is an excellent foundation for those contemplating continuing their formal education with the pursuit of a graduate degree in public administration, business administration, or law.
