The Digital Forensics Laboratory in the College of Business opened in Fall 2012 in the new College of Building at Louisiana Tech University. The laboratory was developed to provide state of the art learning and research experiences for both undergraduate and graduate students in digital forensics.
The laboratory allows students to simulate a law enforcement digital forensics experience. Students learn to investigate networks, PCs, laptops, and all mobile devices. Students also gain an understanding of controlled security environments with secure keypad entry and evidence security space. Equipment in laboratory includes six state of the art forensic workstations, three 70” touchscreen monitors, one 60” monitor, 32 forensic laptops, and a cascade of media capability. In addition, the laboratory provides students with forensic software experiences the include the latest versions Access Data’s Forensic Toolkit (FTK), Guidance Software’s ENCASE, Paraben Software’s Device Seizure, and a host of other software.
