St. Francis Hospital in Monroe, Louisiana has an interns available for the the summer 06 as a Computer Assistant.

This is an internship for juniors and seniors pursuing a bachelor's degree in MIS or CIS. Interns work under the supervision of network specialists to help maintain a 1200 node network of personal and portable computers.

Tasks include:

• helping with network cabling issues (testing, labeling, troubleshooting) from workstation locations to distribution closets
  
• unpacking and transporting new and moved computer equipment; maintaining computer equipment inventories
  
• loading software on personal computers, laptops, and tablets;
  
• workstation and printer troubleshooting and diagnostic services;
  
• and use of an automated help desk problem tracking system.

The intern may also help with hardware and/or software deployment efforts or major upgrade projects. Hours are flexible. Target work week is about 20 hours but varies widely depending on projects and school schedules.
