Distinguished Alumni 2000,  R. H. 'Bobby' Rawle

Bobby Rawle is President of J. Ray McDermott, S.A. A New Orleans native, Bobby is a business administration graduate with a bachelors degree from Louisiana Tech University (1971). He is an alumnus of Tech's Eta Zeta Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Since beginning his career with McDermott, Inc. in 1971, he has worked in a variety of capacities. Bobby started as a field engineer in Morgan City, Louisiana and has held positions in offshore operations in Southeast Asia and the Middle East in estimating and project management in the North Sea and Gulf of Mexico. In 1992, he was named Division Manager of Southeast Asia operations and in 1993, Vice President of domestic operations. He became Vice President and Group Executive of North America, for J. Ray McDermott in 1995, when the company was formed by the merger of McDermott International's marine construction business with Offshore Pipelines, Inc. In 1996, Bobby was named Vice President and Group Executive of North, Central, and South American operations. In 1997, Bobby assumed his current role as President of the company.

Bobby has been an active member on several boards. He has served on the Board of Directors of Spars, Inc. and Offshore Marine Service Association, and has been Chairman of the Board of Deeptech Oil Technology. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the National Ocean Industries Association. Bobby has also been active in community organizations. He has served on the Board of Trustees of the Thibodeaux United Methodist Church and as a Board Member of the United Way of South Louisiana. Bobby is a member of the Executive Cabinet of Louisiana Tech's College of Business.

Bobby is married to the former Rebecca "Becky" Howell, originally from New Orleans and a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority at Louisiana Tech University. They have one daughter who is currently 12 years. old.
